'It was another busy week at North Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield's largest bowls club - Erdington Court, with the all weather rinks hosting over 30 players involved in separate City and County games on one day alone - in addition to regular social bowling sessions and the Club's own competitions.

Early in the week, all the attention was on the latter stages of the 21 end County Pairs match, featuring a 'Court - only' squad of top players - Rob Robinson from Four Oaks and Richard Brittan from Tamworth against Mark Ireland from Hodge Hill and Allen Onion from Sutton Coldfield. In a match that lasted for over 3 hours,it was 15:14 to Mark and Allen going into the last end. They clinched the match taking one more shot to finish 16:14.

In other matches, going on at the same time the Court's Ladies Ivy League team 'B' beat Handsworth Wood 16:20. The Court have two teams in the League with over 14 ladies taking part this season. The 'A' team went on to win away at Kings Heath 10:16 and the 'B' team shared the points with a 10:10 away draw at Rowheath. . The mid term league positions have Team B lying in second place overall while Team A are 7th but have 3 games in hand, so all to play for!

In another Court-only fixture on that afternoon, the Men's 'A' team, also playing at home in the Birmingham Bowling Association Evergreen League lost to the 'B' team by the narrowest of margins on Rink 1 by 13: 14 - but won on the other 20:13. Overall, they took 4 points with the 'B' team taking 2.

In the Men's Birmingham Bowls Association League, the Court have two teams in the higher League - and for the third year running, their 'A' team is topping the League. The 'B' Team are holding their own at 7th in the table.

In the second round of the National Men's Pair's Competition, Allen Onion and Richard Brittan were in action again,. Despite being 8 points down with 7 ends to go, they won 24:18 against a team from The Avenue Coventry.
