Local first aid specialist Ann Davies of AD First Aid Training was at Erdington Court Bowls Club this week.
Ann was there to train 12 of the Clubs officers and staff in resuscitation techniques - including the use of the Club's new defibrillator.

Erdington Court ended the year with 4 evening and afternoon indoor leagues in full swing - with over 70 members in total taking part.Leading the Thursday night mixed triples League at present is the team led by Chris Hall - and including Dean Mortiboys and Denise Szostek. However this could all be about to change with the imposition of handicaps on the leading teams - based on their first half performance.

The Robinson family ran the dental surgery at Wylde Green for over 90 years. The last of the family to work there, Rob, retired this year.
The surviving family members Keith, aged 98, his brother Phil, aged 94, and Keith’s son Rob, aged 63, all live in Sutton Coldfield.

It was a busy week-end - and mixed fortunes for the Erdington Court squads, as they took on City of Birmingham, City of Coventry and Shrewsbury. A total of over 50 Court players took to the rinks - a number of whom were new to top level competition. The Club has extended its participation in competitions this year to reflect the growth in membership.

Erdington Court has started the indoor season in a growing competitive mood - swollen by an influx of new players in recent years from across the north of the City.

One of Erdington Court's top indoor lady players was in action this week in the first round of a national competition.
Joan Garner from Sutton Coldfield won the opening round of the English Indoor Bowls Association's Ladies Champion of Champions 4 wood singles - at home in Bowling Green Close.

Erdington Court Bowls Club held its annual open day to publicise its winter indoor arena and evening leagues - attracting over 150 visitors - including Birmingham's Lord Mayor Councillor Anne Underwood, from Sutton Coldfield. She was told that 40-50% of Erdington Court's members are ladies and that the majority of members come from Sutton Coldfield.

As the outdoor season came to a slightly rainy end, Erdington Court players came to the fore in the Birmingham Bowling Association's (BBA) finals.
Rob Robinson from Sutton Coldfield won the individual Champion of Champions - Phil Bond, Paul Vaughan and Gary Smith won the triples and Richard Brittan the singles. Antony Gould won the individual competition.

Erdington Court men took on the combined might of the Birmingham Bowling Association (BBA) to win the coveted Tony Cooke Trophy.
Tony Cooke was a stalwart of Solihull Municipal Club - and the Trophy and a Rose Bowl were presented by his widow Joy to Solihull and then in 2016, with her approval, to be used by the BBA.
